The Quiet Moments Before A Session

I think there’s something about the planning process that I’ve always loved. The quiet moments before a session, when the studio is still, and I’m sitting on the floor surrounded by wraps, props, and tiny outfits. That’s where the magic starts for me.

I know for some, this part might feel like “just setup,” but for me, it’s so much more than that. It’s where the vision comes to life. Every color choice, every texture, every tiny headband or bonnet, it all starts with intention and heart.
Before a baby even arrives at my studio, I’ve already imagined the flow of the session. I think about what tones will complement their skin, what backdrops will photograph beautifully, and how I can create images that feel timeless and full of warmth.
This stage of the process: planning, styling, and setting up is where creativity meets purpose. It’s where I get to translate what’s in my head into something tangible, something real.
I truly believe that attention to detail makes all the difference. When a parent walks into my studio and sees everything perfectly set up for their little one, I want them to feel that they’re in good hands. That I’ve thought of everything.
Some of my favorite moments happen right here on the floor. Sorting through wraps, pairing colors, adjusting tiny props. It’s a kind of calm focus that always reminds me why I fell in love with newborn photography in the first place.
Each setup feels like a little story waiting to unfold. And I love knowing that in just a short while, a brand-new baby will be nestled right where I’m sitting, and all the planning will come to life through my lens.
This isn’t just prep work, it’s art in motion. It’s the start of a session that will become someone’s forever memory.
Every detail matters. Every fabric, every pose, every quiet adjustment contributes to that final gallery that parents will cherish for years to come.
So while it might look like I’m just sitting on the floor surrounded by baby props, I’m really creating the foundation for something beautiful. The planning, the styling, the dreaming… it’s all part of what makes this job so special.
