Why I Love Mentoring Sessions So Much

There’s something really special about these mentoring sessions. It’s something I really enjoy doing. Getting to sit down, talk through real struggles, and help other photographers move forward in their businesses.

Every session looks a little different, and that’s what I love about it. Sometimes it’s all about the creative side: posing newborns, perfecting lighting, or setting up backdrops in a way that makes editing easier later on.

I’ve had photographers send me photos of their setups, unsure what wasn’t working. And within minutes, I’m recording a quick video back showing exactly how to adjust the backdrop, move the light, or tweak the angles to make everything come together beautifully.

Then there are days when we talk about the business side. Those moments when you just feel stuck. The “I can’t seem to focus” days. The “I don’t know where to start” days. The days where running a photography business feels like juggling ten things at once.

And that’s okay. Those conversations are some of the most important ones we have. Because sometimes, what you need most isn’t a new pose or preset. It’s clarity, direction, and a plan to get back on track.

Other times, we dive deep into editing workflows. Little adjustments, shortcuts, and strategies that can completely change your speed, consistency, and overall confidence behind the screen.

That’s what I love most about mentoring. It’s not one-size-fits-all. It’s meeting you where you’re at, understanding what you’re struggling with, and helping you find real, actionable solutions that make sense for your business.
